Project Description

The Grocery Voucher program provides cash value benefits for low-income, vulnerable communities to purchase food for themselves and their families. Low-income, communities of color were disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency. These funds will be used to provide services to the same communities that are also disproportionately impacted by food insecurity. To ensure equitable access, participants will be given the option of receiving either a grocery gift card for in-store shopping or an online purchasing and delivery option. By providing an online option, communities with barriers, such as transportation, will be able to participate in the program. The program will be implemented in historically underserved, low-income communities throughout Los Angeles County in partnership with community-based organizations that provide other vital social services. TRANCHE II - Tranche 2 will provide an extension of the program to reach an additional 5,000 low-income, vulnerable households in the highest and high-need communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be extended for an additional six months. REALLOCATION - Reallocation will provide an extension of the program to reach an additional 4,000 low-income, vulnerable households in the highest and high-need communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be extended for an additional six months.

Goals & Objectives
