Project Description

Safer at Work is a public education campaign to improve workplace compliance with public health orders and encourage health and safety and economic resiliency of businesses, workers and patrons. This campaign empowers small and microbusinesses, including street vendors, employees, and consumers to follow up-to-date guidance from the Department of Public Health while educating small businesses about additional resources offered to them by the County of Los Angeles. To further improve compliance, Safer at Work distributes much needed personal protective equipment to small businesses, essential businesses, businesses and street vendors heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and businesses that employ low-wage workers. The use of Street Teams that target high vulnerability communities (as noted in the Equity Explorer) supplement the information outreach effort.

Goals & Objectives

Goal Description Safer at Work’s overarching project outcome is for LA County small businesses to increase compliance with COVID-19 public health orders to avert future COVID-19 related small business shutdowns, increase economic self-sufficiency, and stable employment as well as increase business, worker and patron health and safety.

Objective Description Reach 10,000 businesses through Safer at Work Campaign efforts and inform them about COVID-19 business compliance. This is inclusive of our Street Teams meeting with businesses in-person and direct mailers to businesses with limited access to computers and broadband internet.

Activity Description Distribute PPE at 2 warehouse locations in Los Angeles County with pick-up dates available during business hours, Monday through Friday.
